Corporations Must Renounce the Great Left-Wing Temper Tantrum of 2018 Over SCOTUS Nominee

President Donald Trump has picked Judge Brett Kavanaugh as his nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court. The federal appeals court judge has a long record of decisions in favor of constitutional liberty. For just three examples: he criticized the foundation upon which parts of the Affordable Care Act are based, ruled for religious liberty when it came to the Obama-era contraception/abortifacient coverage mandate, and ruled against an illegal immigrants’ “right” to an abortion in the United States.

Whatever one’s political views, this Yale graduate with decades of diverse legal experience is clearly qualified to sit upon the U.S. Supreme Court. Yet two liberal groups wasted no time shamefully attacking Kavanaugh, not even giving him a chance to be considered on his merits.

Corporate backers of the Center for American Progress (CAP) and Human Rights Campaign (HRC) should be ashamed of the tantrums which these groups threw last evening.

HRC, for example, didn’t actually cite evidence of the following claims in a Tweet:

Even their long statement about Kavanaugh merely confirmed that the nominee respects religious liberty and the U.S. Constitution.

CAP’s shrieking is arguably worse than HRC’s. Not limiting themselves to important issues of American values, they argued that Kavanaugh is part of Trump’s effort to put himself above the law:

To ram through a Trump loyalist nominee and reshape the entire court this way would be an outrageous partisan power grab against all Americans, especially women. Trump is trying to rig the system on an unprecedented scale, eliminating the last check on his abuses of power, and casting his cloud of corruption over the entire court by appointing the deciding vote on his own criminal investigations.

And like HRC, CAP is whining about Kavanaugh’s constitutional perspectives on abortion, the Affordable Care Act, and other matters:

The leftist freak-out over Kavanaugh as SCOTUS nominee shows just how unserious and anti-American CAP and HRC are. Yet corporations continue to send them money. We urge you to use your second vote dollars to tell the following companies to stick to business — and to stop sending money to plainly partisan, power-grabbing organizations which intend to undermine America’s values on so many important issues.
