Our goal at 2ndVote is to keep you informed on causes that corporations are supporting with your money, in order to ensure that they are held accountable for their actions.
Here are some of the key findings and data points of interest discovered in our recent research:
Leslie’s, Inc. (1.00) – Leslie’s, Inc., perhaps better known as Leslie’s Pools, serves as a good example of how companies can earn extremely poor scores on each of the key issues and in their composite score simply by donating to or associating with certain key organizations. In Leslie’s case, a single donation to the NAACP caused significant deductions on all key issues due to known political stance taken by the NAACP. While Leslie’s Pools still has other liberal actions on its record, its scores would be significantly higher if it were not for its involvement with the NAACP.
Casio Computer Company, Ltd. (2.83) – Casio, a well know technology company and producer of products like G-Shock watches, calculators, and electronic musical insturments, serves as a good example of a company with a single-issue focus while remaining neutral on everything else. With five distinct actions on the issue of Environment, Casio shows a commitment to environmental alarmism through its support of the Paris Climate Agreement, the SBTis, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Burlap & Barrel (3.44) – Burlap & Barrel is a culinary supply company with a focus on spices and ingredients. With a significant donation to God’s Love We Deliver, coupled with support for Habitat for Humanity, Burlap & Barrel serves as a good example of when philanthropy and activism are channeled to local, holistic causes rather than national organizations and vague causes that yield unknown impacts.
