04 Nov In-the-News Update [Issue: 2nd Amendment]
Last week, while hosting the Now This news segment, which is a subsidiary of Vox, President Biden responded to a question from the audience regarding gun control legislation. In touting a proposed piece of legislation, the President stated, “My legislation says there can be no more than eight bullets in a round.” Now, while verbal faux pas are nothing new for Biden, it’s fair to deduce that what he was likely referring to is a provision in the legislation that would dictate a magazine capacity limitation of just eight rounds for magazine-fed firearms. Of course, magazine capacity restrictions are a common staple for leftist gun control agendas and blue states everywhere, with states like California having implemented a ten-round restriction years ago. However, like 2nd Amendment advocates have been saying for years, the encroaching approach of gun control has always been, and still remains one of slow, inch-by-inch incrementalism. Ten years ago, they wanted magazines to be restricted to 15 rounds, and then it was 10 rounds, and now it’s 8. The precise truth is that they will always find a reason to continue to drive that number down until the arms that we carry are neutered to the point of being useless and impractical, and then they’ll say, “what reason do you have for them at all?”
