Assault Weapons Ban

This past Monday (January 30th), the Florida state legislature introduced a bill that would make Florida the 26th state to adopt permitless carry, often known as constitutional carry, into law. Submitted by Representative Chuck Brannan, the bill dictates that while law-abiding Floridians would still be able to apply for and receive a permit, a permit would no longer be required to carry a firearm for self-defense in public. Some may choose to acquire a permit in order to have reciprocity recognized in other states, but for Floridians, should this bill pass, it would allow them to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights without having to first ask permission from the state government. Additionally, if the bill is signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis, it will officially mark the United States as being a majority constitutional carry nation, which gun rights advocates see as critical progress, and anti-gunners view as an afront to their beloved cult of “public safety.”
