And just like that, the permitless carry train keeps on rolling. Once again, yet another state has passed legislation legalizing permitless carry. This time, Nebraska passed Bill 77 with a 33-14 vote, sending the bill to the executive to receive Governor Jim Pillen’s signature, who has previously shown support for the bill. With his signature, Nebraska is slated to join the other 25 states that have passed similar bills across the country. State Senator Tom Brewer, who introduced the bill, had the following to say, “What we do in this body sometimes is trying to follow through with the will of the people and give them the rights that they have in the Constitution… And sometimes we go out of the way and twist those rights and keep people from having them, and I think (the concealed carry permit) is a case of that.” Of course, the bill was met with vocal opposition from some lobbyists like Moms Demand Action as well as activists present in the legislature who accosted representatives by shouting “Shame!” upon its passage.
