Members of Congress are receiving dozens of letters opposing an online safety bill for children. Groups like the American Library Association, ACLU, GLADD, and the Electronic Frontier Foundation wrote to congress over their concern of children’s safety while online. These groups do not feel that the law protects children. Instead, it provides more data to be collected and lead to “over-Moderation.” There is fear that these laws will cut off children’s access to sex education and LGBTQ+ resources. They went on to make claims that the bill could lead to more cases of domestic violence due to strict parental monitoring.
