With an estimated 2,379,944 migrant encounters at the southern U.S. border in fiscal 2022, and another 599,000 “gotaways,” as reported by CBP sources, one would think that it would be pretty clear that border security is at an all-time low and requires immediate, and focused attention. However, according to President Biden and his administration, that simply isn’t the case. In fact, an alleged multi-billion-dollar enterprise investment opportunity in Arizona is what has warranted the President’s visit this week. When asked why he was going to a border state without making a visit to the border (something the President has not done even once over the course of his tenure), Biden himself stated, “Because there are more important things going on.” Perhaps some of those billions of invested dollars will somehow eventually make it to the southern border to assist with the crisis. But then again, it’s probably just as likely to end up in Ukraine.
