Kerri Walsh Jennings, three-time Olympic gold medalist, ruffled liberal feathers after she shared her perspective of how much motherhood means to her in an interview with NBC. Walsh’s statement, “I feel like I was born to have babies and play volleyball” resulted in criticism on Twitter, according to LifeNews, with some posting negative remarks.
“Did you just see the piece about Kerri Walsh Jennings? “I was born to have babies…” What is @nbc doing to us?!”
While adverse comments were present, other tweets applauded Walsh Jennings and her strength and motivation:
“Kerri Walsh-Jennings is 37 years old with 3 Olympic gold medals. 3 kids, and a 6 pack. What a boss.”
In her NBC interview, Walsh Jennings went on to say that her children were what had given her the perspective and balance she needed to excel not only in her personal life but in her Olympic endeavors, as well. She stated:
“It took my game and my desire and my passion for life to the next level. I am hugely indebted to my children.”
The Olympic star is an incredible role model, and we wish her and all U.S. athletes competing in the games this year the best of luck! And remember, if you are following the Olympics, be sure to check out our post on the companies sponsoring the games this year.
