Target’s Restroom Policy Blasted as “Dangerous”; 2nd Vote Releases List of Alternative Retail Options

Earlier this week, retail giant Target made headlines and drew criticism from conservative leaders after publicly stating:

We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.

The affirmation of this corporate restroom and fitting room policy allows and essentially encourages access to these facilities to all-comers, without regard to biological sex.

The American Family Association has blasted Target’s position and is launching a campaign encouraging customers to engage the company:

Target’s policy is exactly how sexual predators get access to their victims. And with Target publicly boasting that men can enter women’s bathrooms, where do you think predators are going to go?

Clearly, Target’s new policy poses a danger to wives and daughters. We think many customers will agree.

Target has a history of supporting liberal organizations and causes including direct advocacy for same-sex marriage and partnerships with environmental activists that support cap-and-trade policies. The background research on Target can be found on their scorepage.

Fortunately for conservatives, there are several alternative retailers where consumers don’t have to worry about their shopping dollars funding liberal advocacy. 2nd Vote’s research team has identified six companies that have received Neutral (3) or higher scores:

Hobby Lobby
Bed Bath & Beyond
BJ’s Wholesale Club

Based on the current information available, these retailers have not engaged in liberal advocacy. Nor have they supported organizations like Georgia Prospers or Equality NC that oppose common sense protections for religious liberty or promoted so-called “bathroom bills”.

2nd Vote will continue to monitor where these companies and hundreds of others stand on these issues to keep our members informed.
