23 Jul The Company Contrast – AMC Theatres & Regal Entertainment Group
Each week 2ndVote takes a look at a popular company that scores poorly on the 2ndVote scoring system and then provides some better alternatives for you to easily align your shopping dollars with your values. This series is called The Company Contrast, and the companies we will be focusing on this week are AMC Theatres (2.43) and Regal Entertainment Group (2.71).
AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas are the largest and second-largest theatre chains in the United States, respectively. Although they are both widely known and very popular theatres, both chains, unfortunately, engage in liberal advocacy to some extent. While Regal Cinemas gets low marks on 1st Amendment/Religious liberty, AMC Theatres scores very poorly on both 1st Amendment/Religious Liberty and Marriage.
If you are still wanting to enjoy a family movie night or want to catch the latest flick, Cinemark Theatres (3.00) fortunately scores neutrally. Without any known advocacy in either direction, Cinemark makes for a good alternative. Otherwise, supporting a local business by going to a locally owned theatre is always a good option. If you yearn for some nostalgia, you could also always pull up to a local drive-in theatre if you have them in your area.
