30 Jul The Company Contrast – BeltOutlet.com
Each week 2ndVote takes a look at popular companies that either score well or score poorly and then try to provide alternatives that either better align with the 2ndVote values or should be avoided to the best of your ability. This series is called The Company Contrast, and the company we will be focusing on this week is BeltOutlet.com (3.86).
BeltOutlet is an online exclusive clothing retailer that specializes in clothing accessories for men, women, and children alike. With products ranging from their namesake belts, to luggage, sleepwear, headwear, handbags, and more, BeltOutlet.com offers a variety of products without any guilt for your wallet. Although BeltOutlet does carry some brands that score poorly, the retailer themselves has some patriotic and Christian related product offerings that, along with their charitable giving history, earns them positive scores on the key issues of Life, 1st Amendment/Religious Liberty, and Marriage.
As for similar brands and retailers to avoid, J. Crew (2.14), Nordstrom (1.86), and Brooks Brothers (1.71) are all popular ones that hardly align with your 2ndVote values. Due to partnership with HRC and other charitable giving, J. Crew has earned low marks on the key issues of Life, Marriage, and 1st Amendment/Religious Liberty. In addition to scoring poorly on the same issues as J. Crew, Nordstrom also scores low on 2nd Amendment for supporting organizations in favor of gun control. Worst of all, Brooks Brothers earns low scores on all of the above issues, adding low marks on Environment as well due to partnerships with organizations that support carbon tax.
