10 Sep The Company Contrast – MGM Resorts International
Each week 2ndVote takes a look at popular companies that either score well or score poorly and then try to provide alternatives that either better align with the 2ndVote values or should be avoided to the best of your ability. This series is called The Company Contrast, and the company we will be focusing on this week is MGM Resorts International (1.29).
Perhaps most notably known for their resorts and casinos on the Las Vegas strip, MGM Resorts International is an entertainment and resorts chain with properties and resorts across the United States and even in China and Japan. Being that their flagship resorts are in “Sin City,” perhaps it should come to no surprise that MGM’s activism skews so far left. Through direct monetary support and corporate partnership with organizations like Planned Parenthood and the Human Rights Campaign, MGM Resorts International cements their abysmal scores on all issues but Environment. That sort of advocacy makes it impossible for them to earn 2ndVote’s stamp of approval or your valuable dollar.
Fortunately, Omni Hotels & Resorts (3.00) offers a neutral alternative that won’t compromise your values. With over 60 locations across North America, Omni Hotels & Resorts offers a luxury experience comparable to MGM for those special occasions and trips. Although 2ndVote always advocates for companies to aim for higher than a neutral 3.00, you can at least trust that Omni’s priorities are with their customers and not any leftist social justice initiatives.
