22 Dec The Company Contrast – Outdoor Voices
Each week 2ndVote takes a look at popular companies that either score well or score poorly and then try to provide alternatives that either better align with the 2ndVote values or should be avoided to the best of your ability. This series is called The Company Contrast, and the company we will be focusing on this week is Outdoor Voices (1.17).
Outdoor Voices is a casual outdoors and athletic apparel company that was founded in New York City. Although it has since relocated to Austin, Texas, Outdoor Voices begins to show its liberal big city roots when their activism is explored a bit further. Despite having the opportunity to simply be an apparel company that quality products for loyal customers, Outdoor Voices maintains partnerships with organizations like the ACLU and the World Wildlife Fund, which promote liberal agendas across most issues. They even advocate for unrestricted abortion access. All of which has earned them the lowest scores on all but one of the 2ndVote key issues.
Alternatively, if consumers wish to get their hands on great apparel without tainting their hard-earned dollars, Alexo Athletica (3.67) similarly offers outdoors and athletic apparel that doesn’t betray your values. Not only is Alexo Athletica outspoken about their pro-life stance, but they are one of very few companies that openly supports the 2nd Amendment, even offering a dedicated line of women’s concealed carry attire. These factors earn Alexo Athletica high marks on the issues of Life and 2nd Amendment while remaining neutral on all others.
