Each week 2ndVote takes a look at a popular company that scores poorly on the 2ndVote scoring system and then provides some better alternatives for you to easily align your shopping dollars with your values. This series is called The Company Contrast, and the company we will be focusing on this week is Subway (2.86).

Subway is possibly the most well known and recognizable brand of sub sandwich chains in America. With independent storefronts all over the country and internationally, Subway has become ubiquitous with sandwich lovers and even has deals with other companies, offering smaller locations embedded within select Walmart stores, shopping malls, and more. Unfortunately, Subway has demonstrated less than favorable advocacy, scoring poorly on the key issue of life due to some indirect support for abortion providers.

That said, sandwich connoisseurs fear not! There are actually a plethora of competitors that offer quality sandwiches without the baggage of poor advocacy. Blimpie Sandwiches (3.00), Firehouse Subs (3.00), Penn Station (3.00), Jersey Mike’s Subs (3.00), Jimmy John’s (3.00), and Which Wich (3.00) all score neutrally while still satisfying your lunch cravings.
