07 Jan The Company Contrast – Sun Basket
Each week 2ndVote takes a look at popular companies that either score well or score poorly and then try to provide alternatives that either better align with 2ndVote values or should be avoided to the best of your ability. This series is called The Company Contrast, and the company we will be focusing on this week is Sun Basket (2.83).
Sun Basket is a San Francisco-based subscription meal delivery service that ships members fresh organic and sustainable ingredients with recipes every week, allowing them to cook their own meals. While they are first a meal delivery service, they also support a couple of liberal causes such as the American Heart Association, and they partner with Williams-Sonoma, which is a corporate partner of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
Alternatively, if consumers wish to use great meal delivery companies without tainting their hard-earned dollars, Hello Fresh, EveryPlate, or Blue Apron are great solutions. They too provide fresh ingredients with easy to follow recipes, but they are neutral in nature and have chosen to stay out of the culture wars in their business. These companies have made it a point to focus on their customers, and provide them with the highest quality goods and services, and not focus on social activism.
