19 Jun The Company Contrast – Walt Disney Parks & Resorts
Each week 2ndVote takes a look at a popular company that scores poorly on the 2ndVote scoring system and then provides some better alternatives for you to easily align your shopping dollars with your values. This series is called The Company Contrast, and the company we will be focusing on this week is Walt Disney Parks & Resorts (1.17).
Walt Disney Parks & Resorts encompasses Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida as well as Walt Disneyland in Anaheim, California. While both locations have a reputation for being premium family vacation spots, being owned by The Walt Disney Company means that they are subject to the same liberal advocacy that their parent company promotes. As a result, these resorts score very poorly on the issues of Life, Marriage, 1st Amendment/Religious Liberty, Immigration, and Education; though it should also be noted that the parks prohibit the carrying of firearms on all premises.
However, there a few alternatives for your wallet that won’t betray your values. Choose instead any of the Six Flags (3.00) chain of theme parks with their neutral score. So, if you’re looking for a fun family getaway, be sure to check out any of their 25 locations in North America or search for any other locally-owned entertainment venues!
