26 May The Good in Men: Still Encouraging 60 Years Later
2ndVote readers are sending in their personal stories about “the good in men.” Please be sure to read about these real men and the impact they have had on their family and community. In honor of these men, we’ll be gifting an Égard watch (3.00-neutral) to a deserving man selected from these stories this Father’s Day.

I would like to tell you about my father, Ronnie B.
His first words after learning I was a girl were “a girl! What can a girl do?!” After that, he always encouraged me in everything I did. In sports, education and the arts. There was discipline. Remember the Bible verse, “spare the rod, spoil the child?” He is still encouraging 60 years later.
He taught me many things. How to discipline, encourage, and teach my children, but, the most important lesson he ever taught me is my love of Jesus Christ! I have eternal salvation because of that lesson! His example of fellowship with other Christians by attending and getting involved in church started early. He taught Sunday school, coached my church league teams, and continues his devotionals to begin the day.
He’s a wonderful father and, more importantly, a devoted husband of 62 years! He was a great provider allowing mom to stay home with me and he loves mom as Christ loves the Church!
I love him and am very proud of the example he sets of being a Godly man!
Thank you, Wendi, for your contribution!
