2nd Vote brings you the latest on Silicon Valley activism.
On the heels of the Mozilla controversy, activists in Silicon Valley are once again trying to enforce political correctness and conformity at the expense of freedom and differing opinions. Internet activists are now calling for a boycott of DropBox, a cloud storage company, due to the addition of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to their Board of Directors.
This uproar is the just latest instance of conflict between the technology community’s leftist, progressive self-image and those individuals whose personal views don’t mesh. DropBox has not caved to public pressure on Secretary Rice (so far), but with the recent examples of Mozilla, it doesn’t take much to see this type of pressure have an effect that the organizers want.
2nd Vote will be watching to see how DropBox responds to continued pressure.
